Surface Pattern

Approaches to surface module has now come to an end, it was a learning curve to watch the processes of following the brief unfold- how 3d and 2d constructions, photograms and found objects can be inspiration for a Wallpaper design. The end result consisted of ten wallpaper designs, examining the different grids of interior pattern, from Ogee to half Drop. My sketch book was paramount in experimenting and pushing the boundaries of my original ideas.

One of the designs I feel was successful began from stitching white cartridge paper with black cotton, observing line and white space- then manipulating this image, layering and enlarging on Creative Suite, until and almost accidental form began to emerge. Something simple resulted in a complex weave of lines synonymous to the spiders web. In the future I shall envisage to use more elements, combining many of my ideas be it the afore mentioned photograms or new influences, but the simplicity of my first wallpapers appeal and I feel were a good basis to evolve from.
